Open studio patterns

It’s official - We’ve partnered with Open Studio Patterns! Open Studio aims to preserve the skill of sewing through an industrial perspective led by a team of sewers, designers, and patternmakers since 2010 with accessible digital sewing patterns. I was immediately drawn to their clean silhouettes and effortless simplicity. I’m a sucker for a collared shirt, so their best-selling Bumper Blouse jumped out to me right away.

I decided on a cream-colored jersey knit for this pattern. While veeery comfy, I highly suggest sticking to the recommended fabric list of lightweight fabrics for this project. The PDF pattern was extremely easy and quick to print and assemble, and I was very impressed with both the PDF and video instructions. Construction was simple, and there were really thoughtful design details like the mitered corners on the hem and the slightly rounded notched collar.

I of course had to add my own flair, using a patch from Rowing Blazers collaboration with Target and some gold buttons. See the full video on our Instagram!

This sewing project hovered between beginner and intermediate, and overall took me around 6 hours in total to complete including assembling the paper pattern. I would definitely recommend having some experience with collars before tackling this project.
